Qatar Digital Government Center for Excellence Trains Over 600 IT Employees
Over 600 IT employees from more than 40 government entities have been trained in digital government and relevant technical skills at The Qatar Digital Government Center for Excellence, as part of the Ministry of Transport and Communications’ ongoing efforts to further implement the Qatar Digital Government 2020 Strategy.
Launched last May, the initiative aims to educate and train all IT government employees over the course of the next three years in collaboration with public and private partners, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, Community College of Qatar, Microsoft, Cisco, and others.
“We are delighted to have completed this phase of the initiative, mainly for qualifying such a number of local employees with hands-on experience to guarantee the sustainability of Qatar Digital Government projects,” said Ms. Reem Al-Mansoori, the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary of Digital Society Development.
“The Center aims to train local personnel and qualify them for government entities in order to plug the skills gap in industry,” she added.
“Many of government entities,” said Al-Mansoori, “have been contacted and their IT training requirements carefully identified. That was tremendously helpful in designing the most appropriate tracks and training courses their staff actually need, taking into consideration the types of work they perform as well as their areas of technical specialization.”
The Government of the State of Qatar pays great attention to human capital development, fully understanding their key role in development and performance improvement nationwide.
The initiative taskforce are attracting more think tanks in the field of technology and training in order to help enrich the content in order to be able to meet the needs of government entities for now and well into the future.
The Qatar Digital Government Steering Committee has embraced various unique mechanisms and tools to assist in realizing the objectives of the Qatar Digital Government 2020 Strategy, including the Qatar Digital Government Center for Excellence, which, in addition to its main mission, will become a platform for innovation in digital government services.
